Welcome to Ukraine

throught its arts & crafts

Welcome to my website "Motanka - Ukrainian Souvenirs & Handicrafts"!

Together with my partner artists, craftspeople and, of course, a charming Ukrainian Motanka doll, we wish you a pleasant journey to the different regions of Ukraine. We will do our best to make the trip enjoyable and invite you to discover quality handicrafts that we carefully create and select for you: tableware, fashion, jewellery, decorations, toys and much more!
Having spent 5 years accompanying French and Ukrainian companies and working to foster economic exchanges between French and Ukrainian SMEs within the France-Ukraine Economic Circle, I have launched my own project to promote the best of Ukrainian applied arts and crafts. Meanwhile I am living out my passion: making Motanka dolls. It is this passion that I want to share with you!
Once upon a time, there lived a Motanka doll ... she was a baby sleeping peacefully in her cot. She was a child, a little girl, with long, braided hair, playing and having fun. She was a young girl looking for love and destiny. She was a princess, a benevolent protector of her land and her people. She was a mother, gentle and caring, guardian of the family hearth. She was a grandmother, protector of her home and of the memory of her ancestors.
Motanka embodies the ancient traditions and rites of Ukraine. Dating back to pagan times, to the matriarchal roots of our society, she reappears on different occasions, like a benevolent fairy in our everyday lives. A thousand years later she’s here to tell you her story. This is the story of a people, of a country, handed down from one generation to another, to be shared with you today.
Together with local artists and craftspeople we work together to expand and adapt our offer to your wishes and needs. Feel free to discover, to test and to ask for more!
Do not hesitate to contact me for any further information or with your suggestions.
Your Motanka is also happy to meet you during exhibitions, fairs, Christmas markets etc.
Follow Motanka on my website, blog and social networks, invite your friends to join us.
Thank you in advance for your support. It means a lot to me and my project!
See you soon!
